Laporta Reveals the Return of Former Barcelona Striker and Unveils His Role
Joan Laporta Announces Bojan Krkic’s Return to Barcelona in a Mentorship Role
Barcelona President Joan Laporta has confirmed the return of former Barcelona striker Bojan Krkic to the club. Bojan will take on a mentorship role within the club’s sports structure, working alongside the newly appointed Sporting Director Deco, La Masia manager Alexanco, and head coach Xavi.
Laporta stated, “He is now part of Deco’s staff. I think Bojan can be a great mentor for our young players.” This move comes as Barcelona aims to strengthen its youth development system and provide guidance to emerging talents.
Bojan Krkic’s role will involve advising and mentoring young Barcelona players who are on the cusp of breaking into the first team, such as Lamine Yamal and Fermin Lopez. He will also work with promising talents who are currently away on loan, including Ansu Fati.
Bojan Krkic is no stranger to Barcelona, having played for the club from 2007 to 2014. He was once hailed as the “new Messi” due to his prodigious talent but faced challenges in living up to the immense expectations.
At the age of 33, Bojan retired from professional football earlier this year. His return to Barcelona signifies the club’s commitment to nurturing and developing young talents within their ranks, utilizing the experience and insights of former players like Bojan.
