Lionel Messi Reveals Barcelona as His First Choice After Leaving PSG
In a recent interview with France Football, Lionel Messi disclosed that Barcelona remained his top priority after departing Paris Saint-Germain.
Messi stated, “I could have returned to Barcelona, but it didn’t materialize. When I had to part ways with the club (in 2021), it was a similar situation.”
He continued, “Here at Paris Saint-Germain, the circumstances were different, but my initial thought was the same. I wanted to return to Barcelona, to don the Blaugrana colors once more, and ultimately retire there, as it had always been my dream.”
However, that dream was not destined to come true. Messi explained, “Regrettably, it wasn’t possible, so we made the decision to come here to Inter Miami. I had already achieved all the objectives I had set for my career, which allowed me to consider not only the sporting aspect but also the well-being of my family and the opportunity to explore life from a different perspective.”
While it appears unlikely that Messi will grace the Camp Nou pitch again, there remains the possibility of a testimonial game in his honor, celebrating the remarkable career of the Argentine superstar.
