Defender Marcos Alonso has stirred attention on social media by vocally supporting his former club Chelsea ahead of their Monday night game against Tottenham. His online expression of support featured the words ‘Up the Blues tonight!’ accompanied by a Blue heart emoji.

Following Chelsea’s resounding 4-1 victory over Tottenham, Alonso further celebrated the win by responding to the Chelsea X account with the statement: “London is Blue.” This public backing of Chelsea has raised some eyebrows, especially given Barcelona’s upcoming significant Champions League match against Shakhtar.

Many players tend to refrain from publicly voicing their support for their former clubs, especially shortly before a crucial game. However, Marcos Alonso has not hesitated to express his allegiance to Chelsea.

It’s worth noting that Alonso joined Barcelona in the summer of 2022 as a free agent after the expiration of his contract with Chelsea. While his former teammate Andreas Christensen has been a regular presence in the team, the Spanish left-back has faced more limited opportunities.
