Tebas Expresses Wish for Barcelona to Sign Top Managers Klopp or Mourinho

In a recent interview with journalist Fabrizio Romano, LaLiga President Javier Tebas discussed various football-related topics, focusing on Barcelona. Tebas addressed the notion of LaLiga being compromised and the refereeing controversies surrounding Barcelona and Real Madrid matches, emphasizing that the league is not tainted. “Neither Xavi nor Laporta truly believe in such a thing,” he stated.

One notable query was about Tebas’s preference for Barcelona’s next coach. Tebas was clear in his desire, saying, “I hope one of the best coaches in the world comes. Klopp or Mourinho or others. Let all the best come here,” he declared.

Reflecting on the heightened tension in the media between Madrid and Barcelona, Tebas remarked, “We are experiencing a moment of great tension that I had never seen with the newspapers from Madrid and Barcelona. You read what is said about contentious plays and see two absolutely different positions. We live in a lot of controversy, a lot of tension; I focus that discourse on this situation. It is also true that the Negreira issue, which is the worst thing that has happened to Spanish football, is contributing to the tension.”

Addressing Barcelona’s options in the transfer market, Tebas mentioned the club’s financial fair play situation and the tasks they must accomplish to access this summer’s market. “Barça has homework to do if they want to enter the market. Otherwise, they will be subject to player sales to meet the 1-1 rule, but for that, they still have homework to do. Barcelona has two pending payments related to Libero Football Finance AG, which could further limit their summer market,” he explained.

Regarding Lionel Messi’s failed return to Barcelona, Tebas revealed his optimism about the possibility. “Personally, due to Messi and Barcelona’s desire, I saw it close. When there is that affection, many economic issues are set aside. I saw it possible. I saw it close. I am sure Messi would have liked to retire at Barcelona,” he added.

Tebas also expressed optimism about Kylian Mbappé potentially joining LaLiga this summer. “Every day that passes, I add a higher percentage because he does not renew. At 26, Mbappé should look for a club with a strong international brand, where he can build an international name as happened with Cristiano, as happened with Messi,” Tebas noted. “PSG still does not have that kind of brand.
