Alexia Putellas Nears Return: Positive Signs in Barcelona’s Camp
Encouraging developments at ‘Can Barça’ as Alexia Putellas commenced a portion of the training session with the team on Monday, marking a crucial step in her recovery process.
The captain underwent arthroscopy on December 27, and her recuperation is progressing smoothly, aligning with the anticipated timeline.
On January 29, a month post-surgery, she resumed running on the field, and on February 3, a day before her birthday, she engaged in ball exercises—initially individually and later with Jana Fernández, who is also recovering from a hamstring injury.
As reported by SPORT, the captain is not expected to return to the pitch until after the international break, between February 19 and 28. The plan is for her to recover fully and gradually reintegrate into play, likely in March, gearing up for the crucial stretch of the season.
In a recent press conference, Jonatan Giráldez provided insight into Alexia’s and Fridolina Rolfö’s situations, stating, “It’s unlikely they will return before the break. I won’t set a date, but they are training well, and the feelings are positive. We don’t want to take any risks.”
