Emotional Farewell to Joan Casals, Beloved Grandfather of Barça
Around 500 people gathered at the Guardiola de Berguedà Multipurpose Hall to bid a final farewell to Joan Casals, fondly known as the “Avi del Barça” (Barça’s Grandfather). The FC Barcelona and the Agrupació de Jugadors del FC Barcelona were present at the ceremony held on Saturday.
The religious and civic ceremony in memory of Joan Casals took place at the Guardiola de Berguedà Multipurpose Hall, commemorating the life of the “Avi del Barça” who passed away on February 14 at the age of 90. Casals’ legacy extended beyond the Barça fanbase, making him a powerful and beloved icon.
The emotional event saw the participation of approximately 500 attendees, including figures such as Maria Elena Fort, Enric Bosch, Jordi Casals, Juan Manuel Asensi, Rafa Zuviría, and Pere Valentí Mora. During the wake on Friday, directors Eduard Romeu and Josep-Ignasi Macià paid their respects. Also in attendance were former directors Toni Rovira and Maria Antònia Milà, along with several presidents of supporters’ clubs and federations.
