Marc Guiu: “There’s a Title Race, and We Will Win Something 100%
The forward from Sant Celoni, Marc Guiu, aligns with Lewandowski’s prediction that Barcelona will end the season with some silverware. Guiu expressed his enthusiasm after scoring a stunning goal for Barça Atlètic against Rayo Majadahonda.
Guiu’s remarkable goal-scoring form this season reflects his love for finding the net, whether with the Juvenil A, the first team, or contributing to Barça Atlètic. Speaking candidly on Esport 3 after Barça Atlètic’s 3-1 victory over Rayo Majadahonda, the Sant Celoni native exuded optimism.
Xavi’s positive outlook amid Barcelona’s challenging season is not exclusive to the Terrassa-born coach. Following Lewandowski’s recent assertion that he believes Barcelona will win some silverware this season, Marc Guiu subscribes to this theory: “There’s a title race, there always is; we are focused on winning the league, and we can do it.” When asked if he shared the Polish striker’s vision, Guiu responded with equal conviction: “We will win something 100%.” Barcelona still has to compete in the Champions League and strive not to falter in La Liga, where they need to make up an eight-point gap to Real Madrid.
Managing three teams in a season is uncommon, but it hasn’t thrown off Marc Guiu: “I try to handle it in the best way and learn from all the coaches,” he said. “The most important thing is to give everything on the field, and opportunities will come. I always try to help the team.”
Reflecting on the filial team’s victory, Guiu acknowledged it was “a good game from the entire team; we dominated and secured three crucial points.” Regarding his spectacular goal, a back-heeled finish in mid-air, Guiu showed less imagination in front of the microphones than on the pitch: “It’s one of the best goals I’ve scored. Albert (assistant coach) told me to anticipate when they cross, and that’s what I did. When I saw the ball, I tried to finish it any way I could, and it went in.”
Marc Guiu’s current form suggests that Xavi might consider him as an ideal Plan B if the team needs goals in a crucial moment.
