Albert Luque Meets with Xavi and Checks on Pedri, While Mendes Navigates Joao Félix’s Extended Loan to Barça
Albert Luque, the Sporting Director of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), visited the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper on Wednesday to hold discussions with Xavi Hernández and get firsthand information about the condition of Barcelona’s international player, Pedri Rodríguez, who recently suffered an injury in the match against Athletic Bilbao.
Luque, a regular presence at Barça’s facilities due to his role in the Federation and the good relationship he maintains with the club’s officials and coaching staff, spent over an hour at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, taking advantage of Barcelona’s return to training this morning.
His main objective was to discuss with Xavi the status of different internationals in the first team, with particular attention to Pedri, who is sidelined with a new injury for several weeks.
Pedri is not the only player in the national team’s orbit, as Gavi and Balde, recovering from their respective processes, are also working towards being match-fit by the end of the season. The Euro 2024 in Germany and the Paris Olympics could be on the horizon if they recover in time.
Luque left the Barça facilities in his vehicle without making any statements, simply stating “everything is perfect” when asked if he had spoken with Xavi or had been with Pedri.
In the morning training session, the notable return was Marco Alonso joining group activities. The left-back, who underwent surgery in January to address his lumbar issues, is back under Xavi’s guidance and could be included in the squad for Friday’s match against Mallorca.
