Paris Saint-Germain Set to Finalize €50m Deal with Barcelona for Ousmane Dembele

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) seems to be on the verge of finalizing a deal to acquire Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona in a transfer worth €50 million. Interestingly, this amount comes despite Dembele’s release clause increasing to €100 million on August 1st.

According to reputable sources like Relevo, Dembele had a prior agreement with Barcelona that allowed him to leave the club for €50 million without activating his release clause. Consequently, the agreed fee stands at €50 million, with Barcelona set to receive the entire amount. In the event of activating the release clause, €25 million was originally due to Dembele and his agent Moussa Sissoko, but this will not be the case given the negotiated deal.

Reports suggest that Barcelona was legally obligated to accept the €50 million in an accord reached with the French winger. For PSG, this arrangement is advantageous as they will not have to pay the full amount upfront, as would have been the case with the release clause activation. This approach enables PSG to manage their finances more effectively. It is also believed that Dembele played a role in ensuring that Barcelona would receive a larger sum from the deal.

Additionally, Dembele and PSG have reportedly agreed on a five-year contract, further solidifying his potential move to the French capital.

For Barcelona, the departure of Dembele represents an unexpected loss and forces the club to reevaluate their transfer targets for the remainder of the transfer window. While it provides some financial flexibility, replacing a key player of Dembele’s caliber in the same position may prove challenging due to budget constraints.

Xavi, the new Barcelona manager, will need to adjust his plans and tactics following Dembele’s departure, as the talented winger’s absence will undoubtedly leave a void in the squad. However, with a bit more financial breathing room, the club will likely explore alternative options to strengthen their roster before the transfer window closes.

As negotiations near completion, football fans will be eagerly awaiting the official announcement to see how this deal will shape the fortunes of both PSG and Barcelona in the upcoming season.
