Xavi expresses disappointment with Dembele over alleged ‘broken promise’
Xavi, the newly appointed manager of Barcelona, is reportedly feeling deeply disappointed with Ousmane Dembele’s decision to leave the club. According to a report by Ferran Correas of Diario Sport, what has hurt Xavi the most is Dembele’s alleged broken promise of staying at Barcelona to help the team win the Champions League.
Xavi made every effort to convince Dembele to remain at the club and even cited the example of Neymar, who left Barcelona for financial reasons several years ago and now reportedly wants to return after failing to win the Champions League with his current club. Xavi hoped that Dembele would take note of Neymar’s situation and reconsider his decision to leave.
Despite Xavi’s persuasive efforts, Dembouz seems to have made up his mind to join Paris Saint-Germain for the next chapter of his footballing career. PSG, however, did not activate Dembele’s €50m buyout clause before the July 31st deadline. Instead, a different arrangement is being worked out, and Barcelona is reportedly willing to accept a slightly higher transfer fee to allow Dembele to fulfill his desire of moving to Paris.
For Xavi, the departure of Dembele represents a significant blow to his plans for the team. The talented French winger was seen as a key player in Barcelona’s future, and his decision to leave has left the manager with a sense of disappointment and frustration. Xavi now faces the challenge of reshaping the team and finding suitable replacements for Dembele as he strives to guide Barcelona to success in the upcoming season.
