Romeu Criticizes Disgraced Spanish FA Chief for Inappropriate Kiss on Barcelona Femeni Legend

Barcelona midfielder Oriol Romeu has expressed his strong condemnation of the behavior exhibited by the disgraced former president of the Spanish Football Association (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, who kissed Barcelona Femeni legend Jenni Hermoso during Spain’s World Cup celebrations last month.

In no uncertain terms, Romeu voiced his disgust at Rubiales’ actions, emphasizing the need for Hermoso and her colleagues to feel valued, respected, and for their grievances to be addressed. Romeu’s comments were made during an interview with Esport.

“The behavior that has been shown [by Rubiales] towards them is pathetic and sad,” Romeu remarked, clearly illustrating his disdain for the incident. However, Romeu also wanted to ensure that the accomplishments of the Spanish women’s team were not overshadowed by this controversy.

He continued, “And I don’t want to leave out the fact that they have achieved a world. We are filling the front pages for this issue, which is important, but I would like to highlight what they have done. There is a lot of merit in becoming world champions.”

Rubiales has faced significant consequences for his actions, having been compelled to step down from his position as the president of the Spanish Football Association. Additionally, he is currently under investigation by FIFA in response to his inappropriate behavior during the World Cup celebrations.
