Will Barcelona exercise the buyout options for Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix? Deco provides an answer
“There are no buyout options in both Joao Felix and Cancelo deals – these are simple one-year loans,” Deco has told the media, via Fabrizio Romano.
“If they perform at a good level, we will try to keep them at the club. We will be on it, but this is not something to be discussed today,” Barca’s new sporting director added.
Barcelona initially planned to include a €30m buyout option in Joao Cancelo’s loan deal. However, the club didn’t manage to do it as this would’ve been considered a fixed transfer for 2024/25. It would’ve been impossible to register the deal in La Liga amid Barca’s worrying financial state.
If Barca are happy with Cancelo and Felix, they will try to negotiate the permanent moves with Manchester City and Atletico Madrid respectively. At the moment, they are expected to come back to their respective clubs next summer.
