Restraining Order Issued Against Barca Femeni Icon Hermoso in Dispute with Former Spanish Chief Rubiales
Spain’s High Court has issued a restraining order against Barcelona Femeni icon Jenni Hermoso in her ongoing legal dispute with former Spain FA president Luis Rubiales. The order prohibits Rubiales from coming within 200 meters of Hermoso while the trial continues regarding his alleged sexual assault in which he kissed Hermoso on the lips during Spain’s World Cup title celebrations. The judge, however, rejected a request by prosecutors to require Rubiales to report to the court every two weeks to prevent him from fleeing the country before a verdict is reached. Last week, Hermoso filed a formal complaint against Rubiales, leading to charges of sexual assault and coercion. Rubiales had previously resigned as Spain’s FA president, citing advice from close friends and family and a desire not to jeopardize Spain’s bid for the 2030 World Cup.
