Osasuna Sporting Director Braulio Vazquez – ‘We Must Consider Selling Sooner Rather than Later’
Osasuna Sporting Director Braulio Vazquez has issued a warning to fans, indicating that the club may need to sell players sooner rather than later, despite their recent success.
In a press conference following the transfer window, Braulio discussed the club’s acquisitions, including Jose Arnaiz and Alejandro Catena. He acknowledged the challenge of signing Catena, who arrived on a free transfer, and praised Arnaiz’s versatility.
Osasuna made changes at left-back, replacing Manu Sanchez with Johan Mojica on loan and signing Real Betis striker Raul Garcia de Haro for €6.5 million. Braulio emphasized the importance of the striker position and considered Raul’s signing a long-term investment.
Regarding former loan player Ez Abde, who joined Real Betis from Barcelona, Braulio confirmed they had tried to bring him back but Abde expressed a strong desire to play for Betis. He lamented that it might take years to find such a unique talent again.
Despite recent financial stability, Braulio acknowledged that Osasuna may need to sell players in the near future, as they have stretched their resources to retain talent, including young players and key figures like Chimy Avila and Moi.
He also asked fans not to dwell on their recent disappointment in the Conference League playoffs against Club Brugge, emphasizing that the club’s primary goal is to maintain its position in La Liga and maintain a realistic perspective on their progress.
