Barcelona Initiates Pursuit of €30m-Rated Brazilian Wonderkid, with Chelsea Also in the Mix
Under the leadership of their new Sporting Director Deco, Barcelona seems to be adjusting their transfer strategy towards targeting younger talents, similar to the approach that has brought success to Real Madrid in recent years.
One of the promising young talents that fit into this new strategy is 18-year-old Vitor Roque, who signed for Barcelona during the summer. However, he won’t join the club until at least January as Athletico Paranaense wanted to keep him until the end of the current Brazilian season.
Barcelona is now looking to add more Brazilian talent to their ranks, and their latest target is Gabriel Moscardo. According to Goal Brasil, the Catalan club has initiated discussions to acquire the 17-year-old midfielder.
Moscardo, a pivot, has recently made his breakthrough into Corinthians’ first team and is highly regarded within Brazil. Barcelona views him as a valuable addition, especially since he plays in a position that the club aims to strengthen in the long term.
It’s worth noting that Chelsea has also shown interest in signing Moscardo, making Barcelona’s pursuit more competitive. Nonetheless, Barcelona is confident in its appeal and hopes to secure a deal for the talented youngster, similar to their successful acquisition of Roque.
