Barcelona did not make fresh contract offer to Dembélé in latest meeting
Barcelona have once again met with Ousmane Dembélé’s agent as the club continue to work on a new contract for the winger.
As things stand, Dembélé remains on course to leave Camp Nou for nothing at the end of this season, out of contract at the end of June.
It’s a saga that has been drawn out over many months, with Barca submitting offers only for the 24-year-old to reject them.
Dembélé feels he is a valuable player who deserves to be paid a premium, while Barca have so far made reduced offers.
In the meantime, the winger has gone from strength-to-strength, racking up eight assists in his last six La Liga games.
And the two parties have now met again, with Dembélé still keen to extend his Barca stay.
According to Sport, Barca chief Mateu Alemany met with Dembélé’s agent Moussa Sissoko in Marrakesh, Morocco, on Monday.
During the meeting, no fresh offers were put formally, but the meeting served as a base to ease tensions after fierce negotiations in January.
It’s claimed some numbers may have been floated, but generally, the meeting was set to figure out what both parties want going forward, and indeed to get an idea on how those desires can become a reality.
Further meetings are expected to discuss numbers, with Dembélé keen to stay at Barca for the time being, meaning he is not going to entertain any offers from elsewhere while talks continue.
