Unsung hero behind Marc Guiu’s goal against Athletic identified – not Felix, the assist provider

Inigo Martinez played a crucial role in Barcelona’s only goal against Athletic Bilbao, despite not directly providing the assist for Marc Guiu.

The defender initiated the attack with a quick and precise pass to Joao Felix, who, in turn, delivered a perfectly timed pass to Guiu, resulting in a goal seconds after the youngster stepped onto the pitch.

Martinez had a rock-solid performance in what was just his second start of the season for Barca.

He may not have been in the spotlight for the goal, but his contribution in the goal cannot be swept under the rug. His vision and ability to kickstart the attack from the backline were vital in setting up the winning goal.
