Barcelona has decided to sell a star player if their plan goes accordingly
Barcelona is expected to continue its quest for player sales next summer, as the club grapples with tight financial constraints. The current season saw several players, including Ez Abde and Nico Gonzalez, being sold, while others like Sergino Dest, Eric Garcia, Clement Lenglet, Pablo Torre, and Ansu Fati were sent out on loan, with an intention to potentially sell some of them.
Barcelona’s President, Joan Laporta, previously mentioned the possibility of selling Frenkie de Jong for €100 million. Additionally, there were discussions regarding the potential sales of Gavi and Pedri. However, the club has decided that Gavi and Pedri are untouchable, and they are committed to retaining these young talents. This stance mirrors their previous position on Ansu Fati, but given Fati’s recent struggles to regain his peak form, the club is now open to selling him.
According to reports from Sport, Barcelona has made the decision to sell Ansu Fati next summer if he performs well during his loan spell at Brighton in the Premier League, capitalizing on his market value. However, if Fati doesn’t regain form and loses value, there is no specific plan in place. Recent rumors linked Saudi Arabia with a potential move for Fati next summer, but the player’s blessing is yet to be given.
Fati is under contract with Barcelona until 2027, and his current wages are substantial. Therefore, the Blaugrana may find that Fati remains at the club as he seeks to prove himself and rediscover his form. The decision to sell or retain him ultimately depends on his performance during his time at Brighton.
