Xavi Reflects on Two Years as Barcelona Manager and Aims for Further Success

Xavi expressed his satisfaction with the progress he has made as Barcelona’s manager during his two-year tenure at the club.

Ahead of the upcoming clash against Shakhtar Donetsk, he shared, “Being Barça coach for two years? We’ve been diligently working to achieve the objectives we set for ourselves. When we arrived, it was a challenging period. In our first season, we stabilized the situation.”

“In the second year, we secured two titles. Now, our goal is to reach excellence. We are halfway towards restoring Barcelona to greatness. The overall assessment is positive, and I’m content. However, we are only halfway towards our ultimate success, which is to establish a dominant Barcelona in Europe while continuing to compete effectively in domestic competitions.”

Xavi’s managerial efforts have played a crucial role in guiding Barcelona through several challenging years marked by financial difficulties. Under his leadership, the team claimed the La Liga title last season. However, he acknowledges the need for improvement in European competitions, as Barcelona has yet to advance beyond the group stages of the Champions League during his tenure. Securing a victory against Shakhtar on Wednesday and progressing to the Round of 16 would be a significant step towards rectifying this issue.
