Barcelona’s Forward Planning: Deco’s Targets for Next Summer’s Transfer Window

While the winter transfer window is still two months away, Barcelona is already laying the groundwork for the summer market opening at the end of this season. Sporting Director Deco will spearhead the club’s preparations, and he has outlined his vision for reinforcing the first-team squad.

According to Sport, Deco has pinpointed three areas for potential player acquisitions: both full-back positions and defensive midfield. This strategy aligns with the anticipated departures of Sergi Roberto and Marcos Alonso, whose contracts are set to expire.

The report indicates that Barcelona will address both full-back positions, regardless of whether Joao Cancelo’s permanent signing materializes. Financial constraints may lead to in-house promotions, potentially involving talents like Julian Araujo and Alex Valle.

Deco is eager to secure a long-term pivot, especially after Barcelona’s inability to do so during the summer following Sergio Busquets’ departure. Gabriel Moscardo is emerging as a top contender for this role.

Additionally, Barcelona has expressed a desire to sign a winger, considering the uncertain future of Ansu Fati at the club. Joao Felix is a potential solution, even though his loan spell had a promising start but has encountered recent setbacks.
