Barcelona Edges Past Alaves , Xavi Acknowledges Improvement Needed
In a hard-fought encounter, Barcelona secured a 2-1 comeback victory over Alaves on Sunday, with Robert Lewandowski playing a pivotal role by scoring twice to rescue the Catalans from an early setback caused by Samu Omorodion’s 18-second goal for the Basque side.
Post-match, Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez expressed satisfaction with some aspects of the team’s performance but acknowledged the need for further improvement.
“Positionally we have not been bad, but we have suffered with ball losses and transitions, especially with Samu. We are not in our best moment, but we have shown spirit to win in a game in which we grew. I’m clear that we’re going to improve. I’m very positive. Today there has been improvement at times. We shouldn’t worry,” said Xavi.
Xavi reserved special praise for Robert Lewandowski, who ended a six-match goal drought with his crucial double. “He’s always there because he works hard. He has leadership, and today he makes a difference. I’m happy for him.”
With the international break on the horizon, Barcelona aims to refine their game ahead of their upcoming challenge against Rayo Vallecano in two weeks. The break provides an opportunity for the team to address areas that require enhancement as they strive for continued success in future fixtures.
