Barcelona Stages Comeback Against Alaves: Lewandowski’s Brace Sees Catalans in Command
Barcelona’s first-half struggles against Alaves at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys seemed to jeopardize their chances of securing three points. Trailing 1-0 at halftime, the tables have turned as they now lead 2-1 with just over 10 minutes remaining.
Samu Omorodion’s 18-second goal provided Alaves with a dream start, and despite additional chances, he failed to capitalize. Robert Lewandowski’s header after halftime brought Barcelona level, and the Polish striker has now doubled the lead with a penalty, converting after Ferran Torres was fouled in the area.
While Barcelona’s performance against Alaves has been less than convincing, they find themselves in the lead. As they aim to secure a crucial three points, closing the gap at the top of the table to four points, the Catalans will hope to see out the remaining minutes of the match in control.
