Former Galatasaray Coach Praises Inaki Pena’s Goalkeeping Skills, Backs Him as Ter Stegen’s Worthy Replacement

Former Galatasaray coach Domenec Torrent has expressed his confidence in the goalkeeping abilities of Inaki Pena, asserting that the Spanish shot-stopper is more than capable of stepping into Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s shoes.

In an interview with CAT Radio, Torrent spoke highly of Pena, likening him to a cat in goal due to his bravery, impeccable timing, and impressive ball delivery. Recounting their time together at Galatasaray, Torrent revealed that Pena’s performances even prompted a tactical shift in the team.

“He gave me a lot of peace of mind at Galatasaray, and I even changed tactics because of his impressive ball delivery,” Torrent stated.

During his six-month loan spell at Galatasaray in 2022, Pena faced Barcelona in the Europa League, delivering a commendable performance under pressure.

While Pena has yet to feature for Barcelona this season, he is set to get his chance in the upcoming clash against Rayo Vallecano, as Ter Stegen is sidelined due to injury.
