Xavi Acknowledges Referee Woes but Remains Optimistic Ahead of Crucial Porto Clash
In his press conference ahead of the game against Porto, Xavi once again addressed the challenges Barcelona has faced this season due to what he perceives as poor decisions from referees and VAR.
“We haven’t had any luck with the referees,” Xavi candidly expressed.
While acknowledging these difficulties, Xavi was quick to emphasize that he doesn’t want it to come across as an excuse. “I don’t want it to sound like an excuse because what we have to do is play better, but they have hurt us in some actions, yes, we haven’t had any luck,” he stated.
Despite the setbacks, Xavi maintains a positive outlook, firmly believing that Barcelona can turn things around starting with the upcoming clash against Porto on Tuesday. “I firmly believe that we will play well again and get the results. If I didn’t believe in it, I wouldn’t be here,” he affirmed.
Barcelona’s recent draw against Rayo Vallecano saw bitter complaints about a denied penalty. Reports suggest that the club attributes their current La Liga standing to refereeing decisions, fueling a sense of frustration among the team and its supporters. The upcoming match against Porto offers a fresh opportunity for Barcelona to demonstrate resilience and regain momentum in their pursuit of success.
