Chadi Riad Set for Blaugrana Return: Barcelona Activates €7m Buy-Back Clause
As per Diario Sport, Chadi Riad is poised to become Barcelona’s inaugural signing for the 2024/2025 season, with the Catalans preparing to pay €7 million to Betis to enact the buy-back clause embedded in his loan agreement. The talented centre-back will be reintegrated into the first-team setup at Camp Nou.
Intriguingly, despite his current loan status at Betis, Riad technically retains ties with Barcelona. The club loaned him to Betis during the summer, including an obligation for the Seville-based club to purchase him for €3.5 million if he meets specific appearance criteria.
Impressing in Andalusia, the 20-year-old has already participated in 13 La Liga matches, thereby satisfying the buyout clause. Despite the technicalities of his loan arrangement, Riad is widely regarded as a Betis player.
The original loan agreement between Barcelona and Betis also incorporated a €7 million buyback clause, which Barcelona has decided to activate, marking the Moroccan’s return to the Blaugrana fold.
