Frenkie de Jong Addresses Manchester United Transfer Rumors: Content and Focused at Barcelona
Amidst persistent speculation linking Frenkie de Jong with a move to Manchester United for nearly two years, the midfielder, a long-coveted target for coach Erik ten Hag, appears unfazed by the transfer chatter.
In an interview with the Dutch outlet NOS, Frenkie De Jong reassured the media about his current satisfaction at Barcelona, emphasizing, “I’m at the club I’ve always dreamed of joining. I am very happy at Barca.”
While acknowledging the aspirations every footballer has for major trophies, De Jong expressed his commitment to Barcelona, stating, “As a footballer, you want to win the big prizes. I haven’t won them yet. I have not yet won the trophies I want to win here, and I am not yet the player I want to be. There is still room for improvement.”
When directly questioned about the prospect of a move to the Premier League and the potential revitalization of his career, De Jong responded, “Possibly. But I don’t think about it much; I feel good here.”
With a contract at Barcelona until 2026, the 26-year-old has made a significant impact at Camp Nou, contributing 16 goals and 21 assists in 195 appearances. Currently serving as one of the team captains, De Jong remains focused on his journey with Barcelona.
