In a surprising turn of events, Neymar’s father has reportedly transferred €150,000 to Spanish courts to assist in the legal defense of former Barca player Dani Alves, as reported by UOL’s Pedro Lopes, Talyta Vespa, and Thiago Arantes.
Described as “mitigating compensation for damage caused,” this payment has the potential to play a crucial role in reducing the Brazilian right-back’s potential prison sentence if he is convicted.
The need for financial assistance arises from Alves having his assets blocked following his separation from ex-wife Dinorah Santana. To navigate this complex legal situation, the player reportedly enlisted the services of Gustavo Xisto, a long-standing legal representative associated with Neymar Sr.’s companies, as his attorney-in-fact.
The 40-year-old Blaugrana legend is currently facing serious allegations of sexual assault, purportedly occurring at a Barcelona nightclub on December 30, 2022. Additionally, Alves is the subject of a separate lawsuit for non-payment of alimony.
Currently held in custody without bail, Alves awaits trial with the decisive legal proceedings scheduled for early February.
