Xavi’s Assistant, Oscar Hernandez, Faces Technical Bench Ban After Barbastro Clash

In an unexpected turn of events, Oscar Hernandez, Barcelona’s assistant coach and brother to head coach Xavi, will be prohibited from appearing on the technical bench during the Supercopa semi-final clash against Osasuna this Thursday. The ban comes as a consequence of Hernandez’s actions in the aftermath of Barcelona’s Copa Del Rey victory over Barbastro earlier in the week.

Referee Pulido Santana detailed the incident in his report, stating, “Once the match was over and while he was still on the field of play, Oscar Hernandez went towards the fourth referee, recriminating one of my decisions and later he went towards members of the local coaching staff in an exalted attitude.”

In response to Hernandez’s conduct, the disciplinary committee imposed a two-game ban, which will be served during Barcelona’s Supercopa fixtures. However, it’s noteworthy that one of these bans will carry over to La Liga only if Barcelona fails to progress to the final by defeating Osasuna.

As the football community awaits the outcome of the semi-final clash and the potential ramifications for Oscar Hernandez’s future appearances on the technical bench, Barcelona faces a challenging scenario heading into the Supercopa.
