Barça Atlètic Secures Forward Naim García from CD Leganés
FC Barcelona has finalized a signing to bolster the Barça Atlètic squad led by Rafa Márquez. The club has acquired forward Naim García from CD Leganés, a player who developed in Leganés’ youth system but has a history with a Madrid-based club. García made his debut with Leganés’ first team at the age of 18.
Having undergone the entire preseason in the 2020/21 season with the first team under coach Asier Garitano, García made his starting debut on August 21, 2021, in the opening match of LaLiga SmartBank against Real Sociedad ‘B’ at the Reale Arena in San Sebastián, playing the full 90 minutes.
During that season, García featured in a total of 26 matches (873 minutes), scoring two goals and providing two assists, under both Garitano and his successor Mehdi Nafti. Recognizing the potential of the left-footed forward, the club secured Naim with a long-term contract until June 2027 in December 2021, a deal that remained in effect this season.
In the winter transfer window of the 2022/23 campaign, Leganés and Ponferradina agreed to loan Naim García until the end of the season. With 42 official appearances for Leganés, where he scored four goals, García played 16 out of 17 possible games (897 minutes) for Ponferradina, contributing with a goal and two assists.
Upon his return to CD Leganés, Naim García has seen limited playing time under coach Borja Jiménez. Starting in only two occasions, he spent much of September to November as a substitute in 11 out of 12 league games. García has played 310 minutes in 10 league matches and 2 cup matches during this period.
