Sergio Akieme Completes Move to Stade de Reims: Almería, Barcelona Benefit from Transfer
Stade de Reims has officially announced the signing of Sergio Akieme, formerly a player for Almería. The agreement between the two clubs is reported to be around €10 million, although the official confirmation is pending, and it remains unclear whether this figure includes any variable components. As part of the deal, Almería secures a 20% share of any future sale, ensuring a potential windfall. Barcelona, having negotiated a 10% share of the capital gain from a transfer, stands to gain from Akieme’s move.
The Madrid-born player initially joined Almería on loan from Barcelona B during the 2020-2021 season. In the subsequent campaign, the Andalusian club secured Akieme’s services permanently for €3.5 million, with Barcelona retaining a percentage of any future transfer revenue. If the reported fixed sum of €10 million materializes, Barcelona’s coffers would see an increase of €650,000. In the event of a €6.5 million deal, as also speculated, Barcelona would still benefit with an additional €360,000.
