FC Barcelona Welcomes Three New Players to Champions League Squad
After bidding farewell to the Supercopa de España and Copa del Rey, FC Barcelona is now shifting its focus to the ongoing battle in La Liga and the prestigious Champions League. With domestic league options narrowing, Xavi Hernández, the team’s manager, reaffirms the commitment to compete until the end, aiming to secure a spot in the next edition of the Champions League. For the Catalan club, this European competition takes center stage, as they haven’t tasted continental glory since 2015.
As the team prepares for the latter stages of the Champions League, having successfully navigated the group phase, FC Barcelona is introducing three new eligible players for the upcoming matches against Napoli: Vitor Roque, Unai Hernández, and Pau Víctor.
Brazilian forward Vitor Roque, a winter market acquisition from Athletico Paranaense, joins Unai Hernández and Pau Víctor, players from Barça Atlètic not initially registered at the beginning of the season. Seizing the opportunity provided by UEFA’s allowance of three winter market additions, Barcelona has included them in the squad.
In the Barça roster, Andalusian talent Fermín will continue wearing the number 32 instead of the current number 16, as mid-season number changes are not permitted. The same rule applied to Gavi in the previous 2022-23 season; despite wearing number 6 on December 31, 2023, he played in Europe with number 30.
