Cancelo Works on the Sidelines, Gündogan Trains Normally as Barcelona Prepares for Granada Clash

FC Barcelona has returned to training at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper after a two-and-a-half-day break, gearing up for the upcoming match against Granada. Joao Cancelo engaged in specific exercises, while ‘Gundo’ participated in the session without any issues.

This morning’s training session on the Tito Vilanova field saw Xavi Hernández working with all available players, along with the usual presence of academy talents Pau Víctor, Casadó, Unai, Cubarsí, and Héctor Fort.

The Barcelona squad is back in action with their sights set on the next game, scheduled for Sunday, February 11, against Granada CF at Montjuïc (21:00 CET), corresponding to the 24th matchday of LaLiga 2023-24.

In the last preparatory session on February 4, focused on recovery and compensation for available players, Ter Stegen and Raphinha participated, with both doing parts of the training with the group. Barring any setbacks, the German goalkeeper and Brazilian forward are expected to receive medical clearance this weekend and could feature against Granada.

GÜNDOGAN AND CANCELO Regarding the condition of the two players who were substituted during the Alavés match due to discomfort, Xavi seems to have received positive updates. German-Turkish midfielder Gündogan trained normally after a back knock forced him off the pitch in the 59th minute. Joao Cancelo, managing a load issue, underwent specific exercises. However, he is expected to be fit for Sunday’s match, assuming no unforeseen setbacks.

FC Barcelona, with two consecutive victories over Osasuna and Alavés, has shown improvement in results and gameplay since Xavi Hernández announced his departure from the Barcelona bench on June 30.

The team currently sits in third place with 50 points, trailing behind Real Madrid with 58 points and Girona with 56. Atletico Madrid follows closely with 48 points. The upcoming matchday features the Real Madrid vs. Girona fixture, corresponding to the 24th round of LaLiga 2023-24.
