Gerard Gumbau, the central midfielder, stated on Thursday that Granada CF will seek to make “an uncomfortable game” for FC Barcelona this Sunday at the Olímpic Lluís Companys. He described Barcelona as “an amazing team” regardless of its current form. Gumbau emphasized that Granada is “trying to turn the situation around” and has been “more solid” in recent matches.

“A game against Barcelona is always a challenge that you face with a lot of energy and enthusiasm, which means we’ll go to Barcelona with a very clear idea of the game we want to play,” added the Girona-born player.

“Barcelona is an amazing team regardless of the moment they are in. I think they may have lowered their performance at home, and we will try to make it an uncomfortable game for them,” Gumbau added, who was developed in Barcelona’s youth academy and admitted that facing Barcelona is “always special” for him.

Individually, he sees himself “well” after “overcoming a strain at the beginning of the year.” Regarding the changes in the Granada team, with ten additions and eight departures in the winter transfer market, he affirmed that “the current squad is better than the one before.”

“People have come who bring a lot of energy but need a little adaptation,” explained Gumbau, who considered the absence of Argentine forward Lucas Boyé due to injury in the upcoming games as “a significant loss.” However, he believes that they have “sufficient resources to replace him in the best possible way” within the squad.
