Gavi to Lead the Way: First Registration of the New Season Amidst Barça and LaLiga Dispute

The inclusion of Gavi as a full-fledged member of FC Barcelona’s first team continues to stir conversations. The player, currently injured, is registered with the first-team roster under a provisional court order favoring Barcelona. However, the contract he signed with the club until June 30, 2026, with a release clause of €1 billion, remains unregularized.

In January of last year, the Mercantile Court ordered LaLiga to register Gavi, fearing that without registration, the player could leave with a free transfer, causing significant harm to Barcelona. A month later, a judge lifted those precautionary measures, deeming Barcelona’s appeal to be filed out of time. In June, the Barcelona Court of Appeals accepted Barcelona’s appeal, siding with the Mercantile Court.

Since then, Gavi has played with a provisional status, awaiting a definitive judicial resolution. RAC-1 reported this morning that the case was coming to an end, suggesting an agreement between the club and LaLiga for Gavi’s definitive registration, relinquishing the legal dispute that has persisted for over a year.

Barça sources, consulted by SPORT, affirm LaLiga’s statement, denying any agreement between the two parties. Simultaneously, they assure that in July, at the start of the next season, Gavi’s situation will be regularized, and he will be the first player to be officially registered. It’s worth noting that other situations to be addressed include Vitor Roque, Iñigo Martínez, and Alejandro Balde.

The club further asserts that the legal dispute between Barça and LaLiga will continue its course but will naturally conclude once Gavi’s status is regularized.
