Lewandowski Eyes Improved Champions League Performance After Celta Triumph
Following the thrilling victory in the Celta-Barça clash, players from Xavi Hernández’s team expressed satisfaction, heading into the Champions League quarter-final first-leg against Napoli with increased confidence. In post-match remarks to ‘Dazn,’ Barcelona’s striker, Robert Lewandowski, shared his thoughts from the pitch.
“I’m very happy; we won a crucial match for us,” acknowledged Lewandowski regarding the hard-fought win.
Regarding the penalty incident leading to the second goal, which came after a retake of his penalty kick, Robert emphasized that the retake was justified, stating, “the goalkeeper was off his line. In the second (kick), I took it as usual, and it was very important” as the goal secured “three crucial points” in the Champions League qualification race.
Looking ahead to the upcoming Champions League clash against Napoli in the round of 16, Lewandowski commented, “Now we can focus on the Champions League. In the second half, we played well, but offensively, we created too little.”
When asked about his current emotional state after scoring four goals in the last three games, the Polish forward responded, “How do I feel? Good. Physically, too. In the Champions League, we can play better; we need to play well from the first minute to the 90th, both defensively and offensively,” he concluded.
