FC Barcelona reached a remarkable milestone, notching up a total of 11,000 goals in its illustrious history across 4,821 official matches. The historic 11,000th goal was secured by Robert Lewandowski in the intense clash against Celta Vigo, resulting in a 1-0 victory for Barcelona. Notably, this milestone was achieved on the same date, February 17th, when Lionel Messi marked the 10,000th goal back in 2016 during a Sporting-Barça league encounter.

The journey to 11,000 goals spans various official competitions, encompassing Catalan tournaments (Copa Macaya, Copa Barcelona, Campionat de Catalunya, Lliga Catalana, Copa Generalitat, Copa Catalunya, and Supercopa), Spanish competitions (La Liga, Copa del Rey, Preliminar Copa 1913, Liga Mediterránea, Promoción, Copa de Oro, Copa Eva Duarte, Supercopa, and Copa de la Liga), and international competitions (Copa de Europa, Champions League, Recopa, UEFA, Ferias, Finalísima Ferias, Europa League, Supercopa, Intercontinental, Mundial, Challange Pirineos, and Copa Latina).

Intriguingly, the 11,000th goal arrives exactly eight years after Messi’s memorable 10,000th goal at El Molinón. The journey began with Girvan’s goal in 1900, reaching Samitier’s 1,000th goal in 1924. Subsequent players to contribute to milestone goals were Escolà (2,000 in 1935), Seguer (3,000 in 1949), Evaristo (4,000 in 1959), Rexach (5,000 in 1970), Maradona (6,000 in 1983), Laudrup (7,000 in 1993), Moisés (8,000 in 2001), Messi (9,000 in 2010), and Messi (10,000 in 2016).

It’s worth noting that FC Barcelona officially counts 10,995 goals, excluding the “Copa de Oro Argentina,” a competition not recognized as official by the club. The tournament, organized by the Catalan Football Federation and the Consul of Argentina in Barcelona in December 1945 at Les Corts, was attended by the National Sports Delegate, General José Moscardó, and other representatives of the Spanish Football Federation (FEF).
