Deco Affirms Admiration for Barcelona’s Model: ‘No Debate Here
Nearly a week after his controversial statements regarding Barcelona’s “method” surfaced in ‘Nascer do SOL,’ Deco made it clear in the lead-up to the visit to Celta de Vigo at Balaídos that he “loves” the model of the Blaugrana club. Speaking on ‘DAZN,’ Deco addressed the recent discussions about the team, emphasizing his admiration for Barcelona’s style of play and the presence of high-quality players.
“When things aren’t going well, there’s a lot of talk, and things are said that aren’t true. Barcelona’s model is about playing good football, having players of quality and level, which is the model that I love,” he stated. Reflecting on his childhood dreams, Deco added, “I grew up watching the Barcelona of the 90s, and since I was a child, I dreamed of playing for this club. There’s no debate. These are silly things that are said, but I’m used to it.”
The Barcelona sporting director expressed optimism about the remainder of the season, referencing Xavi’s recent comments: “What Xavi said is true: we had reacted and played well against Osasuna and Alavés. We didn’t expect to draw against Granada, but football is like that. The team is training well. Things will turn around.”
