Why Did the Referee Show Larsen a Yellow Card in the Celta Barça Match?
In the Celta vs. Barça clash, Larsen received a yellow card in added time, while sitting on the bench after being substituted for Douvikas. The Celta players received two yellow cards, and those from FC Barcelona received four. The match, which ended 1-2 with the repetition of a penalty, also featured six yellow cards courtesy of the referee, Juan Luis Pulido Santana from the Canary Islands.
The first two yellow cards were shown in the first half, to Allende and Christensen, for fouls on Pedri and Aspas, respectively. The last four were all handed out in added time of the second half, in the following order: De Jong, Ter Stegen, Larsen, and Iñigo Martínez.

The curious incident involved the Norwegian Jorgen Strand Larsen. Pulido Santana explained it in the match report: “For kicking a portable cooler within his technical area, as a sign of protest.”
This action occurred after the referee ordered the penalty taken by Lewandowski to be repeated due to the goalkeeper Guaita’s premature movement. Larsen, who had been on the bench since the 85th minute after being replaced by Anastasios Douvikas, reacted by kicking the portable cooler.
