Barça Femenino Takes Center Stage at IFFHS Awards

Barça Femenino has been the highlight of the IFFHS awards, an independent entity of FIFA that analyzes annual football statistics. Aitana Bonmatí, Jonatan Giráldez, Salma Paralluelo, and the club itself have received prestigious honors.

The International Federation of Football History & Statistics has recognized Aitana Bonmatí as the best player and playmaker of 2023. The Sant Pere de Ribes native continues to add to her individual accolades, which this year include a Ballon d’Or and The Best Award. The Barcelona midfielder amassed a total of 202 points in the Player of the Year category, far surpassing Salma Paralluelo and Sam Kerr with 64 and 59 points, respectively.

In related news, Paralluelo has received the award for the best young player under 20. The Aragonese talent achieved remarkable success this season, winning the Champions League with Barça and the World Cup with the national team, playing a crucial role in both squads. Her meteoric progression is evident, and besides this award, she has been nominated for the Ballon d’Or, The Best Award, and the Puskas Award.

The Best Women’s Club of 2023 On the other hand, Jonatan Giráldez, the coach of FC Barcelona, has been honored as the best coach after securing the F League, the Spanish Supercup, and the Champions League in the same season. The women’s section of the club has also been named the best women’s club in the world.

All five awards were presented at the Johan Cruyff Stadium before the last league match against Atlético Madrid on Sunday, February 18.
