Felix Zwayer to Officiate Napoli vs. FC Barcelona: UEFA Champions League Round of 16 Showdown
The UEFA has revealed the referee assignments for the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. The match between Napoli and FC Barcelona will be officiated by German referee Felix Zwayer, with Bastian Dankert serving as the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
Born in Berlin, Zwayer has been officiating in the Bundesliga since 2008 and has been an international referee since 2012. This marks his sixth appearance in the Round of 16, with no prior experience officiating in stages beyond this in the premier continental competition. The paths of Zwayer and FC Barcelona have crossed only once to date. In the 2018/19 season, the Catalan club secured a 2-4 victory over Tottenham in the group stage under Zwayer’s refereeing.
