Deco Assures: “Nothing Will Happen with Araujo and De Jong”
In a decisive statement, Deco, the director of football, emphasizes that there are no plans to sell Ronald Araujo or Frenkie De Jong at the end of the season. Amid speculations about the possibility of Barcelona facing challenging sales, Deco dismisses such concerns. “What will happen with Araujo and De Jong? Nothing will happen. They have contracts, and we want to keep the best. They are players of the present and the future, earning the right to be at Barça and the respect of fans and the club. We want to continue counting on them,” he stated.
Responding to recent controversy regarding an interview suggesting a need for a change in playing style, Deco denies any consideration of a shift in the club’s football philosophy. “The Barça DNA has always been to have players of the highest level. The style has always been attempted to be maintained. It’s non-negotiable. Barcelona reinvents itself, seeks solutions, and ultimately, we continue trying to play beautiful and attractive football.”
Deco also commends the exceptional form of Robert Lewandowski, describing him as an exemplary figure for young players due to his professionalism and accolades as the world’s best player.
Regarding the upcoming match, Deco is unequivocal: “It’s a challenging game because Getafe is a well-organized team, but at home, we have options. Let’s see if we can put up a good performance because that’s the way to have chances.”
