Why Does LaLiga Believe in Mbappé’s Contract? Scrutiny Intensifies on Barcelona

Recent reports from Madrid claim that Kylian Mbappé is set to earn a salary of 14 million euros at Real Madrid. Despite being net figures, this amount appears modest for one of the planet’s premier footballers who had the potential to command a higher wage at Paris Saint-Germain.

Sources in Madrid further reveal that Mbappé will receive a signing bonus of around 120 million euros, distributed by Florentino Pérez over the five years of the French forward’s upcoming contract. Are these figures credible? Those close to the Real Madrid president explain that after rejecting Madrid two years ago, Pérez was unequivocal with Mbappé: there would be a single offer, and the player must accept or decline.

A pivotal aspect lies in the image rights, typically shared 50-50 between the club and the player. However, in a departure from the norm, Real Madrid plans to make an exception for Mbappé, relinquishing between 70% and 80% of these rights to the player.

Nevertheless, it is LaLiga, under the presidency of Javier Tebas, that must validate these contractual conditions. The league governing body must accept that Mbappé’s contract with Real Madrid stipulates that the Frenchman will receive ‘only’ 14 million euros net per season, albeit with a significant variable component.

The prevailing sentiment suggests that LaLiga is likely to endorse the terms, given Real Madrid’s financial prowess and ability to invest over 700 million in their squad. Additionally, authoritative voices suggest that “Tebas is interested in having a player like Mbappé in LaLiga to promote the league internationally, a product that had seen a decline in recent seasons with the departures of Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.”

Indeed, LaLiga’s president has openly expressed his delight at Mbappé’s move to a team he openly supports, stating, “He is one of the best players in the world. From my point of view, Bellingham, Haaland, and Mbappé are the three most dominant players on the planet, and two of them are at Real Madrid.” Tebas is confident that Real Madrid will face no issues in registering Mbappé, asserting, “They don’t have to sell anyone to afford Mbappé. Really, they don’t.”
