Thomas Tuchel Prioritizes Coaching Barcelona or Manchester United
The FC Barcelona is aware of Thomas Tuchel’s willingness to negotiate a new project, following the completion of his association with Bayern on June 30. Despite a challenging season with Bayern, the German coach is open to opportunities, with Barcelona being a potential destination. Tuchel, who has expressed a liking for Barça, is also open to the possibility of returning to the Premier League, with Manchester United reportedly in the mix, according to ‘Bild’.
While Tuchel remains on Barcelona’s radar, the club is cautious due to his inconsistent season with Bayern. The results have not been favorable, and there are reservations about signing a coach who has recently struggled at a top-tier team. Tuchel’s coaching style and ability to integrate young talents from the academy have appealed to Joan Laporta in the past. He found success at Dortmund, had a good stint at PSG before being dismissed, and won the Champions League with Chelsea. Despite his track record, his tenure at Bayern has been erratic, leading to conflicts with key players.
Tuchel, who is also under the representation of Pini Zahavi, has shown interest in coaching in Spain, although he favors the Premier League, influenced by its economic potential and competitiveness. While Tuchel is currently not a top priority for Barcelona due to uncertainties surrounding the past year, discussions may take place to gauge his thoughts on the team.
Recently, Gundogan expressed admiration for Tuchel, describing him as one of the best coaches in Europe, tactically astute, and close to the players. The final decision on the new coach is expected in the coming weeks, with planning alongside the new coach becoming imperative for Deco and Laporta.
Other candidates on the list include Hansi Flick (unemployed), Nagelsmann (German national team), and Roberto de Zerbi (Brighton). De Zerbi is highly regarded at Barcelona, but his €15 million release clause poses a challenge, and Flick’s suitability is in question. Nagelsmann is likely to have multiple offers once he completes his tenure with the German national team.
