Rafa Leao Rules Out Barcelona Move: Commits Future to Milan
Portuguese Forward Rafa Leao Dismisses Barcelona Transfer Speculations
Rafa Leao has dispelled uncertainties about his controversial future, addressing his current status at Milan and exploring potential options beyond June 30 during the presentation of his book ‘Sonrisa’. Amidst swirling rumors, particularly considering Robert Lewandowski’s possible departure from Barcelona at the end of the current season, Leao had been considered a top-notch alternative to fill the void of a world-class striker—a luxury solution given his ability to play on the left wing and occasionally as a striker.
During the ‘Sonrisa’ presentation, Rafa Leao openly discussed his stance on his footballing future, stating, “Milan helped me grow as a man and as a player. I can’t leave them. My future is in Milan. My education is based on loyalty.”
Leao also reflected on his challenging transition to elite football after leaving Sporting Portugal for Lille in a project led by Luis Campos. “It was tough for me to leave. I had my friends there, my parents, and I went to a city where I didn’t know anyone. It was a new league; they called me the Portuguese Mbappé, but I needed time to adapt to a new reality. In my mind, however, the goal was to reach the level everyone expected. An experience that made me grow as a man, something that brought me here,” he added.
