Pocho Román Returns to Boost Barcelona Atlètic’s Momentum Against Real Unión

Argentine forward Pocho Román is back in the squad for the Barça Atlètic after missing the last 8 matches due to a muscular injury. Rafa Márquez’s team faces a challenging visit to the historic Real Unión this Sunday (4:00 PM), dealing with significant absences and a crucial return. With the injuries to Aleix Garrido, and the unavailability of Marc Casadó and Marc Guiu, Márquez welcomes back Lucas Román.

Pocho Román’s last appearance was on December 10, 2023, when he played 11 minutes against Lugo. Muscular issues have kept the U-20 Italian international sidelined since then. This season, Román has accumulated 321 minutes in seven games, including four starts.

A Left Foot to Add Offensive Talent Pocho Román has yet to score this season but has provided two assists. The left-footed forward, born in Buenos Aires, gained Rafa Márquez’s confidence during the preseason. Román, who can play on both wings and as a center forward, has progressed and could be a key player for Márquez’s team.

Rom’s return could serve as a catalyst, especially with Marc Guiu’s absence likely to be filled by Diego Percan, a regular in Márquez’s starting XI. With Casadó missing, Moha might be deployed again as the right-back. Darvich could fill the vacant midfield spot alongside Marc Bernal and the in-form Unai Hernández.

Facing an Inconsistent Opponent Real Unión, led by Fran Justo, sits comfortably in the mid-table, but they are on a streak of four winless games. In contrast, Barcelona has secured 16 out of the last 18 points and hasn’t lost since January 13 against Arenteiro. The dream of contending for promotion hinges on extending this positive run.

Márquez emphasized, ‘We are confident, these results provide extra motivation, but we expect a challenging match that we must approach with maximum intensity.’

The match between Real Unión and Barça Atlètic (4:00 PM) will take place at the Stadium Gal and will be televised on Esport 3 and FEF TV.

Probable Lineups: Real Unión: Charly Pérez; Luna, Iván Pérez, Montoro, Márquez; Vidorreta, Rivero, Solís, Córdoba; Benito, Escobar.

Barça Atlètic: Marc Vidal; Moha, Mbacke, Faye, Gerard Martín; Bernal, Darvich, Unai Hernández; Naim García, Percan, Pau Víctor.
