Laporta’s Summit with Puma: Exploring the Future of Barcelona’s Kit Supplier
The future official kit supplier for FC Barcelona remains uncertain as President Joan Laporta engages in discussions with Puma. Despite having an existing contract with Nike until 2026, extendable until 2028, the long-standing partnership between the Catalan club and the Oregon-based company has seen strains in recent years. The Barça board is determined to pivot, aiming to significantly boost the current revenue derived from kit deals.
With the coveted Barcelona jersey in play, various brands have expressed interest in succeeding Nike. Among them, Puma has taken proactive steps in recent weeks to secure the management of the blaugrana’s attire. However, the Barcelona board is considering a third option: creating an in-house brand in collaboration with the German company Hummel. This venture would involve manufacturing in Turkey, presenting an alternative path for Barcelona’s future kit production.
