Ferran Torres Continues to Miss Training and Will Be Absent Against Napoli
Xavi Hernández will be without Ferran Torres for the Barcelona vs. Napoli clash on Tuesday (21:00 hours), the crucial second leg of the Champions League Round of 16. The forward has not recovered in time from his hamstring injury in the right leg and remains sidelined.
Ferran Torres was unable to participate in the latest training session held this morning at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, attended by Sporting Vice President Rafa Yuste, ahead of the encounter with the Italian side. Consequently, he is ruled out for the pivotal match in the premier European club competition. Alongside available first-team players, Astralaga, Cubarsí, Héctor Fort, Marc Guiu, Marc Casadó, and Unai Hernández from Barça Atlètic also trained.
Recall that Ferran Torres suffered the injury on January 31 in the 20th round match between Barcelona and Osasuna. The Barça forward was forced to leave the field in the 7th minute of the game due to a hamstring injury in the right leg.
Since then, he has missed seven matches (six in LaLiga and one in the Champions League) due to this setback. The injury came at an unfortunate time, as Ferran Torres had accumulated five goals and an assist in the six games played in January, including a hat-trick against Betis that secured three points at the Benito Villamarín. All indications point to the forward being available for Xavi after the international break, specifically for the 30th round against Las Palmas.
