Bayern Munich Joins the Race for Zubimendi, Lewandowski Reveals Key to Champions League Quarterfinals

Bayern Munich is already making plans for the upcoming season without Thomas Tuchel. The Bavarians announced on February 21 that the German coach would leave the Allianz Arena bench after a string of poor results. Xabi Alonso emerges as the frontrunner to replace Tuchel, although Liverpool is also pressing for the Spanish coach.

The Real Sociedad midfielder has frequently been linked with a move to Barcelona in recent summers as a potential successor to Busquets, and now it seems Bayern is also entering the fray for the San Sebastian native. The ‘Txuri-urdin’ player has a release clause of 60 million euros, a reasonable figure for a 25-year-old talent. Furthermore, Xabi Alonso, the leading candidate for the Bayern bench, previously worked with Zubimendi when he coached the Basque club’s reserve team, making him an ideal replacement for a potential departure of Joshua Kimmich.

Another contender in the race for Zubimendi’s signature is Arsenal, according to ‘SportBild’, as Mikel Arteta is reportedly very interested in the midfielder.

The situation of Ronald Araujo is well known; Barcelona needs to generate a significant amount of money through sales, and Bayern is keenly interested in securing his services. The 25-year-old center-back’s contract expires in 2026, and Araujo expressed his happiness at the club after the Champions League match against Napoli: “My future depends on the club.
