Araujo Reveals His Secret to Overcome Injuries
Ronald Araujo’s journey in the first team of Barcelona has been marred by injuries, yet he has emerged as a key figure in the Blaugrana’s new project. Despite facing numerous setbacks since his debut in October 2019, Araujo has solidified his role, even earning the captain’s armband.
The Uruguayan defender has battled through 14 injuries during his tenure at Barcelona, with seven of them being muscular. His struggles reached a peak last season, causing him to miss the FIFA World Cup in Qatar and sit out 21 matches for Barcelona due to various injuries.
In an interview with ‘Ovación’, Araujo opened up about his journey to overcome these physical challenges, acknowledging past mistakes. “I didn’t properly heal from my first injury, and that set the stage for further setbacks. It took time to reverse that situation, but now I feel good,” explained Araujo.
He revealed a significant change in his approach to fitness, emphasizing the importance of seeking professional help to address his injury woes. “I assembled a comprehensive team to aid my recovery, and it’s yielding positive results. I made this investment to enhance my performance,” Araujo stated.
Acknowledging the psychological toll of injuries, Araujo admitted to working with psychologists as part of his support team. This holistic approach has proven effective, with Araujo enjoying a streak of 31 consecutive appearances for Barcelona since his return from injury.
Regarding his future with Barcelona amid interest from other clubs, Araujo remains focused on the present. “I’m happy in Barcelona, but I can’t predict the future. My contract runs until 2026, and my priority now is to finish the season strongly,” Araujo affirmed, leaving speculation about his future unresolved for the time being.
