Joao Félix Braces for Intense Atmosphere Ahead of Atletico Madrid vs. Barcelona Clash

In anticipation of the Atletico de Madrid and FC Barcelona showdown this Sunday at the Wanda Metropolitano, both teams, having secured spots in the Champions League quarterfinals, now focus on LaLiga just before the international break.

Reflecting on the upcoming match at his former team’s stadium, Joao Félix spoke to DAZN about the challenging environment expected. “It’s going to be a very tough atmosphere for the whole team. Against me, it will be a bit worse, but as a football player, I have to be accustomed to these kinds of things. (…) It motivates me more; I like these important and spicy matches; there’s an extra motivation.”

Recalling the tension in the first leg, where Joao scored the winning goal and celebrated, he noted, “The first leg at home was difficult, and it will be even more so there. They defend and counterattack very well, and the crowd will help them a lot.” Despite being on loan from the Madrid club, there are no plans to recall him.

Joao Félix expressed his belief that Xavi’s announcement of leaving has not affected the team’s results. “I don’t think it has anything to do with the results. We are playing the same way, with the same lineup, the same ideas, but it’s football. Things weren’t going well, and now they are, but not because he said he’s leaving.”

Regarding his future, the forward remained non-committal. “For now, I’m focused here and not thinking beyond, because everything depends on how it goes until the end.”

Ronald Araujo also addressed speculation about a potential summer sale due to the club’s financial issues. “Everyone knows I’m very happy in Barcelona, and whenever I wear the shirt, I try to show it. I’m very happy here, and I’ll always give my all.”
